A Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with ISO 9001:2000 certification, the North Coast Institute is committed to advancing the region economically, socially, culturally and environmentally through excellence in vocational education. The large range of programs, industry knowledge of its staff, organisational improvement initiatives and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities have led to the Institute establishing a reputation as a leading provider of education and training in Australia. In 2005 the North Coast Institute won the NSW Training Award for Large Training Provider of the Year.

As an integral part of the north coast economy, the Institute’s management and staff continually monitor and adapt the range of courses and individual programs to correspond to current and emerging needs and opportunities in local business and industry.

The North Coast Institute's increasing flexibility in course delivery means that a growing number of courses can be studied in non-traditional ways. This provides students with study programs tailored to individual lifestyles and study needs.

Online courses and units/modules are now available with study patterns ranging from fully online to on-campus and web-based materials that use the latest technology to support face-to-face learning.

Students also have access to a range of other flexible learning modes that enable them to study at a time, and in a place, of their own convenience.

Business and industry benefit from the Institute's ability to provide expert service in training needs analysis, consultancy and the preparation and delivery of education and training specific to the needs of clients.

The North Coast Institute also provides work-based and off-the-job training for trainees and apprentices in a range of business and industry areas, as well as additional vocational study options for secondary school students.

The close relationship between the North Coast Institute and universities such as Southern Cross University and the University of Newcastle provides students with more choices, options and flexibility in the courses they study, the credits they achieve and the time taken to gain each qualification.

The North Coast Institute has a growing number of international students, and offers over 80 courses of study for international students, many of which have pathways to university.

The natural beauty of the region, coupled with a climate that encourages outdoor activities, makes the north coast an attractive location in which to live and study, while the North Coast Institute's student support services ensure students learn in a sociable and supportive environment.
