Dear Colleagues

I am writing to let you that know that the ballot for the TAFE Commission of NSW Administrative, Support and Related Employees Enterprise Agreement 2015 has now closed.

The results were:

  • 19% voted yes
  • 81% voted no
  • 66% of staff participated in the vote

This result means that the proposed Agreement will not proceed and that the current Agreement will continue in force until a new Agreement is approved.

I want to thank everyone for getting involved, asking questions and providing valuable feedback about the proposal. This ballot experienced record levels of engagement and has fulfilled three of our key objectives for enterprise bargaining:

  • Maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with the unions and our employees.
  • Being transparent, open and honest in communications with staff.
  • Increasing engagement with all TAFE NSW employees covered by this agreement.

I also wish to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of the TAFE NSW Enterprise Bargaining Team and the many Institute teams who supported TAFE NSW's commitment to a constructive and transparent bargaining process. The work is not over yet, but the effort to date has been tremendous.

What's next?

All parties involved in the negotiations will soon reconvene and recommence bargaining. TAFE NSW will continue to bargain in good faith and work with unions and nominated representatives for as long as it takes to achieve a successful 'yes' vote. Once agreement has been made any negotiated pay increase will be paid from that date, following approval by the Fair Work Commission.
