Last Friday night, TAFE NSW staff and students were honoured at the Australian Training Awards gala presentation held in Brisbane.
TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute won the Skills for Sustainability - Educational Institution Award. This award, in the National Focus category, recognises the outstanding contributions of individuals and organisations to attain Australia’s national vocational education and training (VET) system priorities. Nominations in this category and provided by the Australian Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations, the Hon Senator Chris Evans.
TAFE NSW student Joshua Toomey, who was named NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year in September, won the national title of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year for 2011.
