A cuppa tea at Orange

Event Management students at TAFE Western's Orange Campus put their training into practice last Wednesday 30 March when they hosted a fundraising morning tea for the Cancer Council.

The Certificate III in Events students were primarily motivated by the fact that most of them knew of someone, either a family member or a friend, who was battling cancer. The morning tea was also a great opportunity for them to gain some valuable event management experience.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is an annual fundraising event by the Cancer Council and has been running for 22 years. The official day for the event is 26 May, but people who register their interest in hosting a morning tea can do so at any time in the lead-up to the day.

"Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is an opportunity for friends, family and workmates to come together, share a cuppa and some delicious food while raising funds for the Cancer Council's vital cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs," said Brianna Carracher, Cancer Council Western NSW Events Coordinator.

The funds raised by Orange TAFE's Events Management students will help the Cancer Council reach its aim of raising $4.8 million in NSW alone.
