Bridging the gap

Wauchope TAFE is offering a computer survival course for people lacking basic computer skills.

The Communicating in the Computer Age course starting on 21 July is a beginners course for people unfamiliar with computers.

Leonie Nilson, Head Teacher of Education, Employment and Support told the Port Macquarie Express that people reluctant to use a computer can miss out on many services offered online.

"There are many online services available to people, for instance Centrelink and Roads and Maritime Services through the internet," she said. "But if people are not comfortable using a computer then they can miss out on the opportunity to access these."

Wauchope TAFE aims to bridge the gap. After eight weeks participants will learn basic computer skills, as well as how to complete business transactions online.
