Colourful daze at Taree TAFE

Taree TAFE will be the location of an explosion of colour and music this Friday 1 April as part of a broader initiative targeting mental health.

Promoted as the 'Colour Your Life Youth Expo', the community-based event will run from 10am to 2pm. It will feature an interactive graffiti workshop by local graffiti artists The Hype Twins who will be auctioning off a signed piece of their work with the proceeds going to Taree's local youth refuge. The band SOAR will be providing music throughout the festivities, with support from soloist Jake Davey. There will also be a tug-of-war competition and a game of touch football.

But the highlight of the day will take place on the colour attack field, where enthusiastic participants will be sprayed with large clouds of brightly coloured dust. TAFE students have been organising this activity with help from Greater Taree City Council youth engagement officer, Russell Ingram, and it's certainly shaping up as the most popular (and messiest) event of the day. For maximum effectiveness, participants are encouraged to wear white clothing.

The event is open to anyone in the community who wishes to attend and entry is by gold coin donation.
