Mr Toms met with TAFE NSW regional manager Kate Baxter to discuss the Connected Learning Centre’s positive impact on the region’s education, training and opportunities for students.

“The Connect Learning Centre will create very exciting new opportunities, allowing a greater number of classes to be delivered in real time, over a more flexible digital and direct tuition platform,” Mr Toms said.

“It will mean less need to travel to bigger centres for our students and provide them with more course options.

“It is very positive to see the Glen Innes TAFE NSW building being one of the first to be upgraded to a CLC to accommodate the new era of learning.”

TAFE NSW Regional Manager Kate Baxter went on to describe the personalised, connected and practical learning experience the CLC will provide students, offering better access to teachers both on and off site.

“Through these state-of-the-art facilities, local teachers now have the opportunity to train more students at other CLCs across NSW and provide local students access to a broader and more diverse range of training opportunities than were previously available in Glen Innes,” Ms Baxter said.

Ms Baxter went to say that the education units would provide the physical resource to deliver practical and high-quality training components alongside digitally-enabled and face-to-face learning.

“TAFE NSW’s fleet of mobile education units will constantly evolve through upgrades and expansions to meet industry standards.”

The CLC is scheduled to open its doors in November offering double the courses currently available in Glen Innes as well as two additional fulltime teachers.

Additional courses include early childhood, health and disability, building and construction, Aboriginal languages and agribusiness management.
