Rob uses jest in his quest for the West

Rob Shehadie, of Here Come the Habibs fame, is using his high profile and status as a proud "lifelong westie" to encourage high school students in the west to consider a TAFE course.

Working in conjunction with TAFE Western Sydney, Rob features in a six-part web series titled Educating Rob. The amusing video follows the protagonist's adventures as he navigates various TAFE programs, in the process showing viewers all that TAFE has to offer.

The objective of the campaign is to engage young people through comedy and hopefully help them avoid becoming future unemployment statistics, which are currently formidable at around 25% across some parts of western Sydney.

"Rob grew up in Parramatta and he's a proud western Sydneysider who has achieved significant success and continues to actively promote the west," Craig McCallum, Strategic Marketing and Communications Director for TAFE Western Sydney told the Penrith Press.

Some early market research involving 300 high school students at Mount Druitt has shown promising results, with three quarters of the students saying they would share the videos with friends through their social media channels.
