Students from five high schools across the Snowy Region have experienced a 'Taste of TAFE' with hands-on activities at TAFE Illawarra's Cooma Campus.

Hailing from Years 10, 11 and 12, the students were provided with information and participated in a number of hands-on activities related to their personal interests, skills and selected careers.

Students had the opportunity to find out about studying a TAFE Vocational Education and Training (TVET) course while still at school and explore mainstream courses available for 2017.

They also had the opportunity to attend a range of interactive sessions in areas such as: Human Services (Community and Health), Business Services and Information Technology, Automotive and Welding, Rural Studies, Tourism and Hospitality, and Building and Construction.

David Guthrey, Manager District Operations – Highlands, told The Monaro Post that one of the day's primary focuses was showcasing the career pathways for students.

"The Taste of TAFE experience is all about assisting students with making informed choices about their future study and career options," he said. "It's a great way for students to find out about the wide range of courses offered by TAFE Illawarra."
