TAFE NSW bringing the Workforce of the Future to regional NSW

TAFE NSW has announced that applications for nine future focused, innovative leaders to head Skillspoints will soon be closing.

TAFE NSW has announced that applications for nine future focused, innovative leaders to head Skillspoints will soon be closing. This is the beginning of a process that will establish a core team of 8-15 in each Skillspoint location, creating highly skilled employment opportunities in regional NSW and will enhance the local economy.

Each Skillspoint location has been strategically aligned to support each region's economic growth and employment while taking advantage of industry research, innovation, capabilities and resources.

"The placement of these high-level, leadership positions in regional NSW reflects the NSW Government's commitment to empowering regional NSW with revolutionary new employment possibilities," said TAFE NSW Managing Director, Jon Black.

Regionally based and with a state wide focus, Skillspoints will serve as the relationship centre for industry, where TAFE NSW, business and industry come together to provide the people of NSW with the skills needed for high growth and emerging industry sectors as well as existing employer needs. SkillsPoints are a clear sign TAFE NSW has embraced the NSW Government's vision of a world-class, innovative and flexible public provider that will deliver the new capabilities and skills to support the economy and jobs of tomorrow.

Growth opportunities for NSW include advanced manufacturing and environmental technologies, two areas that are known for their competitive advantage and potential for job growth. However, skill shortages will prevent these opportunities from being realised.

"This is an important initiative for NSW and not only are we creating jobs and keeping local talent in the area, we are supporting regional NSW's by providing countless opportunities for the future of regional NSW,"  said Mr Black.

Right across NSW our SkillsPoints will fuse the very best of learning design, industry innovation and economic forecasts to design learning products that meet the demands of the NSW economy for the next 40 years.
