TAFE NSW showcases skills at the Royal Easter Show

The Royal Easter Show gives you the chance to see our students' skills in a range of displays from landscaping to chocolate making from 17 - 30 March 2016.

Illawarra, South Western Sydney and Western Sydney TAFE students will compete in the landscape challenge , by designing and building landscaped gardens following the garden theme of 'Modern Australian Backyard' to impress the Royal Easter Show judges and gain recognition for the 'People's Choice' Award.

The public will be able to vote for their favourite garden in the 'People's Choice Award' prior to the award announcement on Friday 25 March 2016. The winning team will create a $10,000 garden makeover for the St Vincent de Paul Society, donated by TAFE NSW.

Students from Northern Sydney, Sydney, South Western Sydney and Western Sydney will create floral masterpieces following the pavilion theme 'Art in Bloom'. Flowers are judged on their condition, colour, freshness and overall presentation.

The completed show gardens and floral displays will provide a range of ideas, concepts, design trends and inspiration for any backyard or house.

The gardens and floral displays will be judged by panels of experts on the first day of the show. There will be a formal presentation ceremony for both competitions on Thursday 17 March 2016 at 2.30pm on the flower and garden stage within the Southee Complex.

The Fashion and Style Pavilion will have much more than exhibitors selling clothing and jewellery. Hair and Beauty students from Western Sydney TAFE will demonstrate their skills in the 'pamper me' area where people can relax while having their hair, nails and makeup done, as well as, get the latest beauty tips.

Western Sydney TAFE will also participate in farriery displays at the Horse Experience, chocolate and sugar workshops and a presentation on sheep husbandry on the Cathy Freeman Lawn.

Sydney TAFE Visual Merchandising students will install displays called 'Floral Kulchas' - a bunch of characters who bring floral design and horticulture alive in an engaging educational stage show

TAFE NSW students participating at the show get a valuable educational opportunity with unique insights into the challenges that professionals face in the real world.

Visit the TAFE NSW displays at the show and remember to vote on the 'People's Choice' Landscape Challenge at the show. Voting closes at 2.00pm on Thursday 24 March 2016 with landscaping on location to start in August.
