TAFE NSW celebrates strength of international ties

30 August 2019

TAFE NSW has hosted the Governor of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, Republic of Korea to celebrate a phenomenal 10-year partnership.

TAFE NSW has delivered study tour programs to two hundred and forty-four Korean VET high school students through the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education over the past 10 years. Students on the study tours spend up to 10 weeks studying in Australia completing a combination of English language and vocational training courses followed by an internship program.

Study tours give students a rich taste of what they can study at TAFE NSW, with some students choosing to return after school and complete their qualifications at TAFE NSW.

TAFE NSW Chief Operating Officer Glen Babington said, “It is a pleasure to celebrate the strength of our ties with our international partners, and it is a testament to the excellence of the high quality training delivered by TAFE NSW.”

“Our Korean students value the practical hands-on training provided through the study tours and the industry currency and knowledge of our educators.”

Mr Kim Seok-joon, the Governor of the Busan office of Education, Korea visited TAFE NSW Ultimo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the partnership and sign an Memorandum of Understanding to continue the relationship and for TAFE NSW to continue receiving students for the next 5 years.

“We thank Governor Kim for the incredible decade-long partnership and look forward to providing skills to these students, to enhance their employment opportunities while gaining an invaluable global experience,” Glen Babington said.
