AB DENTAL & Medical GIVES TAFE NSW NEPEAN A CROWN FOR ITS DENTAL TRAINING

For AB Dental & Medical, having staff who have current skills and training is a key component to being able to provide quality dental staff to its clients at a moment’s notice.

AB Dental has been upskilling and retraining its dental assistants by sending them to the state-of-the-art dental training facility TAFE NSW Nepean to complete a three-day Introduction to Dental Assisting course.

Glen Scott, Director of AB Dental & Medical said “AB Dental & Medical is a niche recruitment agency providing contract and permanent staff for all areas of the healthcare sector, ranging from private practice, large corporate and government institutions.

“It’s a busy, fast paced environment and the nature of the industry means that Dental Assistants are in high demand. Clients will call us when their dental assistant is on leave or unwell and they need a qualified Dental Assistant who can step in and do the job at instantaneously. We need to make sure that the staff we are sending to a client are top quality and know what they are doing.

“The dental training offered at TAFE NSW Nepean is second to none. When I visited for the first time I could not believe the facilities, they are very progressive and are absolutely elite. I’ve never seen a dental training and education set-up like this before.”

A requirement of a Dental Assistant is to work in a very confined space with the dentist meaning it can be a very anxious environment for the patient.

“TAFE NSW Nepean delivers the training in a pragmatic way so that the students learn both the technical skills and bedside manner.

“The feedback from my staff who have completed the training is that it was excellent and found it to be very beneficial for them. It is extremely important they have the technical skills, but in addition to that our staff are representing us and also the client’s practice so they need to be the best in the business.”

TAFE NSW provides innovate business-to-business bespoke training to a number of companies both large and small via TAFE Enterprise, which launched in June 2018.

Dental assisting courses can be studied at TAFE NSW either face-to-face at TAFE NSW Nepean or online via TAFE Digital. To learn more visit www.tafensw.edu.au or phone 131 601.
