Art and soul

TAFE Western creative arts students will be exhibiting their work at the Myall Street Campus in Dubbo this Saturday 5 November.

The students are studying a range of creative pursuits including design, graphic design, photography and visual arts. The display is their end-of-year exhibition and represents the cumulative total of their endeavours throughout the year.

"We are very proud of how (the exhibition) has come together," Vicki Vance (pictured standing), head teacher of TAFE Western Creative Industries told the Daily Liberal.

Pursuing artistic talent is something that Visual Arts Diploma student, Meredith Stendell (pictured seated), has found to be very emotionally therapeutic as well as creatively satisfying.

"This year … I have experienced family members moving out and I've lost family members as well. So I am exploring emotion and how to depict it through painting," she said. "My art has helped. When I came back from my dad's funeral, painting was very cathartic and it just flowed."Meredith has found the studying of her Diploma to be so enriching she is planning on enrolling for an Advanced Diploma next year.
