Twelve carpentry course students from Dubbo TAFE helped with the fit-out of the local Schizophrenia Fellowship as part of their hands-on training.

The Oliver House Office was given a complete makeover including a new kitchen, doors, walls and cladding, windows, opening and floating floor boards and general maintenance in the kitchen area.

TAFE Western Carpentry Teacher, Vince Williamson told the Dubbo Photo News the project helped the students improve their skills all round.

"It has been good for the students to get out and experience dealing with clients and external influences," he said. "Their skills have improved throughout this project."

Fellowship team leader Sue Williamson hosted morning tea to thank the students for their efforts.

"I believe this has been an amazing experience for everyone involved," she said. "The students have brought positive energy and enthusiasm to the project, It's also been very interesting watching the students' skills develop – they really have done a wonderful job."
