HSC survival 101

Good luck with your exams. You’ve got this! And we've got your back too.

HSC survival 101

We’d like to wish you luck for your HSC exams 🍀 and let you know that you’re not alone. In fact, around 70,000 students across NSW (and overseas) will start their HSC exams - that’s a lot of revision, coffee and procrastination! ☕

We've got a few tips to get you through this time. It’s all about you!

1. There is a formula for studying smart

There actually is a 'formula' for studying smart: 52 minutes of study then reboot your brain cells with a 17-minute break. Set your smartphone and see how this works for you!

2. Music changes everything

If white noise is not your thing and not how you’d prefer to study, why not choose your favourite music that inspires you?

3. Stay the course

It’s a marathon, not a sprint! You’ve come a long way to get to this point and the finish line is within sight. Don't stop 20 metres before the finish line. You've got this!

4. Visualise your success

Tricking the mind isn’t just for gurus. Visualise yourself leaving your exams feeling confident about having done well and chances are, you will.

5. Take a brain break

Your mental health is far more important than an ATAR so it’s important to take an hour or two for yourself. Get your nails done, go for a walk. Get your nails done while walking! Or watch a movie and catch up with friends. Anything that rewards you for getting this far after 13 years of study.

6. Eat, sleep, hydrate, repeat

Take care of yourself! It might be intense so it’s important to eat well, get enough sleep, drink enough water and repeat. Eat brain food like almonds, yoghurt, bananas, apples and a little bit of dark chocolate to keep you fuelled up and feeling good.
