The art of a rewarding career

Renowned artist Wendy Sharpe returns to TAFE NSW where she began her career. But not as a student. This time, as a judge in the TAFE NSW Art Prize. She’s proving that home is where the art is.

The art of a rewarding career

Former TAFE NSW student, now well-known Australian artist, Wendy Sharpe, has won a number of prizes and awards for her art – both here and overseas – including the Archibald Prize and Sulman Prize. As well as having international residencies, Wendy’s art has been featured in exhibitions and galleries around the world. But it’s back to school now for Wendy as a judge for the 2019 TAFE NSW Art Prize.

“I’ve judged a lot of art prizes, and one of the things I’ve always gotten a lot of pleasure from is judging an art prize like this one,” she says.

Wendy loves seeing people who are ‘seriously’ painting and creating art.

“As a painter, it’s a wonderful thing,” Wendy says about the excitement she feels being part of the TAFE NSW Art Prize sponsored by Derivan.
