Get a head start in a high-demand industry and gain practical experience working as a drainage labourer on residential, commercial and industrial projects. With further study you can become a licensed drainer.

Completion requirements

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

  • A valid general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card). You will need this before entering a construction worksite.

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Relevant employment as a drainer or drainer’s labourer

  • An interest in practical work in various locations

This is a licensed occupation. When you successfully complete the Certificate II in Drainage, and four units from the Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services you can apply for a licence. Visit NSW Fair Trading for licensing requirements and guidelines before you apply.
