Learn on-the-job and kickstart your career in a niche and hands-on industry. Through a combination of both theory and practical learning, you’ll develop the technical skills and knowledge needed to gain employment as a trade qualified gas fitter.

Learning Outcomes

Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Read plans and calculate plumbing quantities

  • Install LPG systems in caravans, mobile homes and mobile workplaces

  • Maintain, disconnect and reconnect Type A gas appliances

  • Install gas piping systems

  • Work safely on roofs

Entry requirements

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

  • Be employed as an apprentice in the gas fitting industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer

  • Submit your Training Plan Proposal (TPP) with your application

Completion requirements

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

  • A general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card) – you will need this before you can enter a construction site

  • The ability to supply your own PPE

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • The ability to start work early in the morning

  • An interest in working with and managing technology

  • Comfort working at heights if required

  • An intermediate level of fitness to manage the physical demands of the role
