Take your career to the next level and conduct high level maintenance work in the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry. Open to currently employed service technicians, you’ll learn advanced skills in diagnostics and rectification, and abilities in commissioning complex systems.

Outcomes What You'll Gain

Learning Outcomes

Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Install air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, their major components and associated equipment

  • Diagnose and rectify faults in air-conditioning and refrigeration control systems

  • Prepare and connect refrigerant tubing and fittings

  • Install refrigerant pipe work, flow controls and accessories

  • Attach cords and plugs to electrical equipment for connection up to 1000 volts AC

Entry requirements

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

  • That you are employed in the industry as an air-conditioning and refrigeration technician as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • An interest in developing knowledge and skills in high level fault diagnosis and rectification, as well as commissioning and maintenance of refrigeration systems and equipment

  • Confidence using hand and power tools

  • Experience working safely in industrial spaces, around pressurised gases, or at heights

  • Literacy and numeracy skills at Year 12 high school level or its equivalent, in order to understand industrial standards, regulations and guidelines

Units Units taught in this course
