Learning Outcomes

Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Research, analyse and apply alcohol and other drug work policy and legal frameworks to work practices

  • Apply a harm minimisation approach to maximise support for clients

  • Respond to distressed clients in a calm, measured manner in line with organisation requirements

  • Identify and respond to issues of personal safety for yourself, clients and others

  • Provide clients with current, relevant and culturally appropriate service information

  • Assist clients with contacting other agencies or services to obtain further information and support

Our graduates go onto roles like: support worker with the Certificate III in Community Services, neighbourhood centre worker with the Certificate III in Community Services, drug and alcohol community support worker with the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs and case worker (community services) with the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs.
