Learn the rare art of lithography in this basic course. Receive specialised guidance on how to make a lithographic print. Gain skills in grinding a stone, drawing an image in lithographic ink, processing the stone and preparing it for print.
During this course you'll learn to:
Prepare your own design
Understand the size requirements of the block you'll work on
Grind the stone to make it smooth and flat
Sett up equipment for lithographic printing
Learn the technical knowledge and details of the lithography process
Apply traditional stone lithography techniques, including transferring images onto stone, process images on stone and print images to produce a basic lithographic printed product in black ink
You'll leave this course with:

The skills to produce a basic lithographic print
A folio of images, which you can display in an exhibit or a book

To be prepared for this course, we recommend you have:
An interest in lithography
Basic drawing skills are an advantage
Your own non-medical dust mask, sturdy covered shoes, rubber kitchen gloves (not thin disposable gloves) and an apron or clothes that will get messy
