Safely fell, trim and cross cut basic trees with a chainsaw as you get a taste of harvesting and non-commercial chainsaw projects. Take your skills to the outdoors and the exciting worlds of arboriculture, fieldwork, emergency services and more.

Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Work safely while felling appropriate basic trees, then trimming and cross cutting felled trees or logs

Entry requirements

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

  • Successful completion of the Statement of Attainment in Chainsaw Operations - Trim and Cut, as evidenced by a copy of your certificate or transcript

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • A high level of physical fitness

  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to lift, carry and use chainsaws

  • Good spatial awareness for chainsaw placement and to avoid falling trees

  • A cool head when faced with stressful situations
