Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Take drinks orders, prepare and serve drinks
Open and close a bar following correct procedures
Sell and serve alcohol responsibly
Assess alcohol-affected customers and identify those to whom sale or service must be refused
Follow hygiene procedures and identify food hazards
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:
Photo ID to generate your interim certificate at the end of your course
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Reached at least 17 years of age so you are able to work in the industry serving alcohol at the
completion of your course after you turn 18
Communication skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
A responsible work ethic
An interest in working in the hospitality industry
The ability to multitask
Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time

This qualification includes an elective with licensing requirements that are regulated by Liquor and Gaming NSW. This unit is: Provide responsible service of alcohol (RSA) When you complete this elective, you’ll be issued with an interim RSA certificate. This interim certificate allows you to work in the industry immediately and is only valid for a short period while you apply for your permanent competency card through Service NSW. It's important to note that you while you can undertake these units to become job-ready, you will not be able to serve or sell alcohol until you are 18 years old.
