Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Provide individualised support to clients with diverse needs, including people with dementia
Empower clients to reach their independence goals
Provide information and advice to clients on their oral health
Incorporate the concepts and practices of person-centred support
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.
Real-world experience in 120 hours of work placement
Engage in establishing your professional network and build relationships with employers, colleagues and other students
Experience in providing care in residential aged care settings
A strong pathway to further study in aged care support, community services or nursing

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:
A National Police Check
Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against infectious diseases
Health care worker/student vaccination record card
Working with Children Check (WWCC) depending on your work placement
Signed code of conduct form and any other forms
Any additional evidence your work placement provider requires
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
An interest in working with people
Good communication skills
The ability to multi-task
Collaboration and teamwork skills
A reasonable level of fitness to carry out manual handling and first aid
Basic computer skills
