In this 4 week on-line, experiential course facilitated by a professional art therapist, you will discover how creativity can improve your mental health, physical health, brain function and overall well-being. Guided experiential activities will encourage you to explore the sensory qualities of artmaking to express and explore your feelings and emotions. Through the self- accomplishment of creating your own artworks to relax your mind and body, you will learn how art can enrich your life, develop self- awareness, and enhance your self- esteem. This course is for new and continuing art therapy participants, to gain a greater understanding of art therapy, it is not personal therapy. No prior art experience is required. Participants will need to supply their own paper and a basic art kit including a choice of pencils, charcoal, ink, watercolour or acrylic paints, thread, fabric, coloured paper, found objects, magazine images. Estimated cost of materials $30. It is suggested that you have a good internet connection and a quiet place to work, free from distractions. The following topics will be covered: creative self- expression, spontaneity and play, blocks to creativity, exploring the inner self, art to improve brain function, art for healthy mind and body.
