Entry requirements

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

  • You are required to have sufficient garment production skills, knowledge, and experience to be appropriate for entry into this Diploma level course. This will be determined through attendance of an information session prior to enrolment, followed by a consultation.

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Completed the Certificate III in Applied Fashion Design and Technology (MST30819)

  • Sewing and patternmaking skills

  • An interest in creating costumes

  • An interest in working backstage in theatre or television

  • The ability to pay a materials fee of approximately $600 to cover costume and garment fees

  • The ability to work during intense production weeks

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 12 high school level

  • TAFE NSW may ask you to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test.

  • This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course.
