TAFE Statement in AUVIS - Examiner - Light Vehicles

This course is for trade qualified and licensed light vehicle mechanics who wish to become an Authorised Examiner under the Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme (AUVIS - formerly Blue Slip) administered by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) of NSW. The course is designed for light vehicle mechanics who are qualified and licensed and have a current APPROVAL FOR TRAINING letter issued by Roads and Maritime.
The AUVIS Examiner is authorised to conduct inspections and issue inspection reports for: Passenger cars and goods carrying vehicles that have a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 4.5 tonne or less; Motorcycles, including motorcycles with a side-car attached; Light trailers and caravans that have an Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) of 4.5 tonne or less including those fitted with breakaway brakes. They issue inspection reports that are used for Safety Checks, Identity Checks, Design Checks, Written-off Vehicle Checks, Adjustment Of Records and Clearance of design based Defect Notices.
Successful completion of the course enables your authority as an Authorised Examiner under the Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme. The course is delivered in a classroom and workshop environment at a TAFE college near you and includes 24 hours of face to face instruction (3 x 8 hour days) addressing the requirements of the Authorised Examiner role. The course covers your legal and compliance requirements and your role as a public official; the tools, methods and test equipment required to thoroughly inspect light vehicles; inspection processes and workflows; Safety, Identity and Design Check Standards; accessing and completing forms and using online reporting system.
Class attendance is required to complete this course. The course is delivered face to face at multiple locations across NSW and is managed from TAFE NSW Wollongong.
