Entry requirements

Some courses require evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

  • Previously held a Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) licence for at least 1 year, as evidenced by a copy of your licence or documentary proof

  • Completed a Heavy Vehicle Knowledge Test at Service NSW, as evidenced by a copy of your results

  • Completed an eyesight test at Service NSW, as evidenced by a copy of your results

  • A completed Fitness to Drive medical assessment, as evidenced by a copy of your results

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend you have:

  • The ability to drive a manual car and the coordination skills to use a clutch and gear stick

  • Some experience in driving with trailers

Career pathways

Our graduates go onto roles like: general delivery driver and local or interstate transport driver.

Licensing

Once you pass your Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment (HVCBA), the assessor will submit your results to Transport for NSW. You can then attend a service centre in person to upgrade or obtain your new Heavy Combination (HC) vehicle licence.
