Australia will always need a strong security and defence force, so whether youre a high school graduate or an experienced tradesperson or qualified professional, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) offers stable jobs and the prospect of a long career.
The ADF has experienced steady growth over the last decade and currently has almost 90,000 employees. The Australian government has allocated $41.7 billion to the ADF in the federal budget for 2020-2021 (2 per cent of GDP) and has pledged to raise that figure to $51.4 billion for the 2023-2024 financial year.
The ADF offers an attractive career path to both men and women, with every role in the Navy, Army and Air Force except direct combat duties open to both genders.
