Australias dependence on technology and the internet means that the continued protection of our systems is vital. According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Annual Cyber Threat Report, our dependence on consumer IoT devices such as home assistants, TVs and home security systems have the potential to be revolutionary, but they will create more vulnerabilities in our networks. This will require new ways of thinking about security and protection.

Other ongoing issues in cyber security include an increase in ransomware, phishing and spear phishing, and cloud computing vulnerabilities, which will translate to further demand for specialists in these areas.

Every industry that operates in an online or digitised environment is vulnerable in some way to cyber security attacks, which is why protection from digital threats is becoming a focus for businesses of all sizes.

From ecommerce online stores, banking and even publicly owned industries like transport need a skilled workforce to prevent cyber security attacks and keep consumers and their data safe.
