Make the grass always greener on both sides of the field as a greenkeeper for iconic sporting venues. Gain the skills to construct, maintain, prepare and restore sports turf surfaces while working outdoors, supporting the sports community.

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Personal protection equipment, such as boots, hat, long sleeve shirt and long pants

  • Some knowledge of biological processes, such as plant health, pests and diseases

  • Basic computer skills to conduct research and use databases

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills, to a year 12 level

  • A reasonable level of fitness to use wheelbarrows, do repetitive lifting and be on your feet for long periods

Licensing

To successfully work within the sports turf management industry, you will need a Pesticide Licence, to demonstrate you have a safe and ethical understanding of chemical applications, handling and storage. Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Sports Turf Management qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 23 Units of competency, including 18 core and 5 speciality units.
