Overview

If you love working in the great outdoors, the Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management may be the right course for you. The demand for expertise in managing, protecting and restoring the natural environment is growing, providing a diverse range of career options.

This courses provides the employability skills required to become a competent ecological restoration practitioner.

You will gain specialist training in:

- Biodiversity conservation
- Restoration ecology
- Undertaking environmental assessments
- Undertaking safe and sustainable work practices

When you have finished this nationally recognised qualification, you will be well equipped to find conservation and land management work in sectors involved in:

- Biodiversity conservation
- Pest and feral species management
- Ecological restoration
- Bushland fire management
- Fauna habitat management
- Threatened species management
- Native seed collection and plant propagation
- Mine site rehabilitation
- Community workshops and training

The learning environment is very practical and hands on. At the completion of the course you will have developed skills and knowledge in weed and native plant identification, undertaking site assessments, applying a range of weed control and ecological restoration techniques, map reading and navigation, implementing safe work practices and a range of conservation and land management skills.

You can continue on to study the Certificate IV or Diploma in Conservation and Land Management. There is also a formal pathway with Macquarie University for a Bachelor Degree in an associated discipline for those that successfully complete the Diploma in Conservation and Land Management.
