This highly practical course provides extensive real world insight and experience into being part of the cabin crew.

Depending on your campus location and local partnerships with TAFE NSW, you may have the opportunity to participate in excursions that take you behind the scenes in the aviation industry.

You will also visit the Aviation Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) centre for a full tour and introduction to the organisation. See equipment demonstrations and learn about your role in aviation and what your steps are in a cabin fire emergency.

You will gain hands-on experience in:

  • Service delivery onboard an aircraft
  • Emergency and evacuation procedures including a realistic aircraft evacuation slide
  • Presenting safety instructions to passengers
  • Using communication equipment

TAFE NSW is known for delivering theory along with practical, hands-on learning. You will practice your skills in real world scenarios, such as:

  • On the ground: Pre-flight inspections, identification of suspicious articles, board passengers, passenger briefing including emergency exits and facilities for disabled passengers, final cabin check before take-off
  • In the sky: Full cabin service including silver service for first class passengers, in-flight retail, management of disruptive passengers, evacuation and emergency procedures
  • Landed: Landing checks, disarm the doors, disembark passengers, post-flight inspection and cabin refresh for next flight

TAFE NSW offers you a range of online and on-campus study environments - industry specific computer rooms, simulated workplaces, study areas, presentation areas and general student facilities - to enhance your learning and employability.

You will learn in a simulated aircraft cabin, airport security screening facility and departure lounge and have access to industry standard equipment and resources.
