Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

In this course you will undertake a combination of theory and practice based assessments that will allow you to develop your skills in small business. There are a number of case studies, projects and skills assessments in addition to role plays.

The Certificate III in Business may be a better fit for you if you dont have any recent work experience or exposure to the back-end functions of running a business. This course equips you with underpinning foundational skills to use typical business resources, equipment, software and documents.

This course, the Certificate IV, equips you with the skills you need to work towards starting or growing your small business with confidence.

You will gain hands-on experience in:

  • Small business planning
  • Marketing and promoting your small business
  • Ensuring that customer needs are met
  • Establish networks and develop relationships to build your small business profile

You will be able to apply your own small business concepts to a number of projects and tasks throughout this course.

In 2018, a survey of Australian start-ups identified key areas for start-ups included artificial intelligence (AI), fintech, education, internet of things (IoT), marketing, medtech/healthtech/biotech, content/media, fitness and wellness, and logistics.

There are over 2.1m small businesses in Australia making them an integral part of the economy. NSW small businesses employ approximately 1.57 million people, representing 44% of the NSW workforce.
