Are you looking to gain experience or on-the-job training in the mental health industry? TAFE NSW's Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work is ideal for those who want to develop specialist skills to work with clients who are facing mental health challenges.
The course is also perfect if you have some work or volunteer experience in the community services sector and are looking to qualify for employment as a mental health support worker. You will learn a variety of skills applicable to the mental health industry, including the ability to work diverse people, promote self-advocacy and undertake peer work practices.
You will also examine the links between mental health and alcohol and other drugs, explore mental health in the community and workplace, and learn how to best work with impacted families. A structured workplace learning component is also incorporated, ensuring you will qualify with a range of both theoretical and practical skills to assist your clients with well-being, independence and recovery.
