Are you interested in construction? Do you love limestone, marble, sandstone and admire beautifully designed craftsmanship? The Certificate III in Stonemasonry (Monumental/Installation) will give you core skills common within the construction industry as well as the specialist skills including working with sandstone, limestone, marble and other types of stone and stone products to produce stone monuments, buildings and building components, such as walls, floors, arches, chimneys, stairs, windows, decorative mouldings, fireplaces and benchtops. You'll learn how to split and dress stone manually, lay and finish stone, use construction tools and equipment, read and interpret plans and specifications, cut and lay segmental pavers, plan monument construction, renovate and restore stone work plus many more skills. TAFE NSW teaches stonemasonry in block weeks - every Monday to Friday - approximately every 5 weeks as part of an apprenticeship pathway. The Certificate III in Stonemasonry (Monumental/Installation) is a nationally recognised course . It qualifies you to work as a construction mason, finisher and stonemason. On average you can expect to earn $1200 a week and Australia expects there to be between 10,000 and 25,000 job openings within the next five years.
