Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development. Assessments in this course are theory based.
The Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) is the qualification you need to apply for your NSW Builders licence.
Its important to note that you must have also completed a Certificate III in Carpentry or a Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying to be eligible to apply for your NSW Builders licence.
This is an in-demand qualification for construction site or project managers who have completed a Certificate III trade apprenticeship qualification.
The Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building) is also an entry requirement into the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building). The Diploma is designed to give you the skills you need to become a foreman, site manager or project manager.
Depending on your campus location and local partnerships with TAFE NSW, you may have the opportunity to participate in excursions that take you behind the scenes in the building industry.
You will gain hands-on experience in:
- Construction contracts, plans, sketches and drawings and specifications, reports, tenders, schedules, building applications and submissions and file notes
TAFE NSW is known for delivering theory along with practical learning. Work on real world projects, such as:
- Simulated plans and specifications for designing of small building projects
TAFE NSW offers you a range of study environments to enhance your learning and employability, such as:
- Classrooms for theory knowledge content
- Onsite projects for site set out and levels
Building and construction qualifications and skills continue to be in high demand; with employment of building associates in New South Wales forecast to increase to approximately 15,040 jobs to 2024/25.
