Overview

Do you want to be a qualified builder in a supervisory or management role? Gain leadership and management skills to coordinate industry subcontractors and run your own business with TAFE NSW's Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building).

This construction management course will teach you to plan building or construction work, to apply structural principles to low rise constructions, and to conduct on-site supervision of building and construction projects.

You will also learn to prepare construction contracts, manage small business finances and produce labour and material schedules for ordering.

Elective units include the application of project quality management and project risk management techniques, as well as how to monitor and manage small business operations and lead effective workplace relationships. Electives also include the supervision of asbestos removal and the ability to use building science principles to construct energy efficient buildings and sustainable structures.
