Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • A year of prior experience, which may include being self-taught, playing a musical instrument, practising as a vocalist, or creating music with software. Students may consult with their teachers at the beginning of the course to determine their experience levels.

  • An interest in music technology, sound production or music business

  • Access to a personal computer, software like Microsoft Office and the internet, as some elements of this course are delivered online. This may be available at a campus library

  • Availability to attend rehearsals, functions, and live performances outside of class hours, including evenings and weekends

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Music (Performance) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 11 Units of competency, including 3 core and 8 speciality units.
