The number of people working as music professionals has grown moderately and is expected to remain stable over the next 5 to 2023 with around 8,000 job openings (that's about 1,600 a year).

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned, and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
In this course, the assessments are mostly practical and are usually held in performance spaces and computer labs. There are some written assessments including music theory exams and some knowledge tests about the music industry.
Depending on your campus location, you may be involved in excursions that take you behind the scenes in the music industry. We also invite guest lecturers from the music industry to join us and add an extra dimension to your learning.
TAFE NSW is known for delivering theory along with practical skills.
In the Certificate IV you will gain hands-on experience in:
- Rehearsing and performing in a group
- Creating content using music technology
- Instrument and vocal technique
An important part of performance is developing your confidence in front of an audience. To enhance your learning and give you real performance experience to add to your repertoire you will:
