The nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade (Heavy Fabrication) prepares you for a career as a metal fabricator or welder. Learn your trade in TAFE NSW simulated workshops and graduate with transferrable skills to use in industries like heavy transport, mining, ship building or bridge building.

LEARN NEW SKILLS

Through theoretical and practical course work, you will learn:

  • Technical drawing
  • Engineering measurements and principles
  • Welding and thermal cutting techniques
  • Communication and planning skills
  • WHS regulations and codes of practice

Be skilled in metal fabrication, boilermaking and welding techniques, including:

  • Gas metal arc welding (MIG welding), gas tungsten arc welding (TIG welding) and manual metal arc welding (stick welding)
  • Handling metal including shaping, finishing and welding
  • Use workshop tools and hand and power tools
