In this course you will undertake:

  • Written assessments including theory knowledge assessments
  • Practical assessments including practical skills assessments and portfolios

The Certificate III in Hairdressing is a trade qualification, which you will need in order to work in the industry. It is where you will learn all your foundational skills, and will set you up for success for further study.

This course, the Certificate IV in hairdressing requires that you have completed the Certificate III in hairdressing and at least one year full-time employment experience as a qualified hairdresser. This certificate reflects the role of senior hairdressers and it is where you will focus on specialised areas including advanced cutting, colouring, corrections, extensions and more.

The Diploma of Salon Management doesnt cover the underpinning experience gained in the Certificate III or IV of Hairdressing. It reflects the role of senior managers and small business owners, who are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of businesses. You do not need a qualification in hairdressing to complete the Diploma, as it is focused on salon management rather than technical salon skills.

Depending on your campus location and local partnerships with TAFE NSW, you may have the opportunity to participate in excursions that take you behind the scenes in the hairdressing industry.

You will gain hands-on experience in:
