This course, the certificate III is an entry level course is designed for event roles that use discretion and judgement, while working with some independence under the guidance of more senior event personnel.
The Diploma level course enables you to operate independently and make operational event management decisions.
The Advanced Diploma level course reflects the role of senior event leaders who require a wide range of specialised managerial skills, and substantial knowledge of event management processes, to conceive, plan and stage events. At this level, you will operate with significant autonomy and are responsible for making strategic business and event management decisions.
Depending on your area, there may be opportunity to gain an insight to behind the scenes of the event industry, which may include volunteer work at local events.
You will participate in real events as well as a range of structured activities that allow you to practice your skills. Some of these skills include:

- Working effectively with others
- Social and cultural sensitivities
- Safe work practices
- Regulatory requirements
Students will collaborate to support an event including set up, operations and break down on real local events.
This is dependent on your campus location and availability of events.
When a real event is not available for you to volunteer at, teachers will organise a simulated environment to provide the same experience for your assessment.
