Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development. In this course you will undertake:

The Certificate IV level focuses on technical skills. It is designed to produce skilled workers with a broad range of specialised knowledge who can effectively coordinate travel or tourism services.

This course, the Diploma level, builds on your technical and operational skills and focuses on your management and leadership capabilities ensuring you are job ready for a strategic role with significant responsibility.

Depending on your campus location and local partnerships with TAFE NSW, you may have the opportunity to participate in excursions that take you behind the scenes in the travel and tourism industry.

You will gain hands-on experience in:

  • Booking domestic and international travel itineraries

  • Working with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds

  • Managing financial transactions

In a real or simulated work environment, you will create travel bookings for a broad range of customers to destinations across the globe.

TAFE NSW offers you a range of online and on-campus study environments - industry specific computer rooms, simulated workplaces, study areas, presentation areas and general student facilities - to enhance your learning and employability.

You will complete most of your course work in a real or simulated work environment. You will have access to a computer on campus however having access to your own computer outside hours is an advantage to complete the required online readings which support the knowledge gained in the classroom.

The number of people working in Australia as tourism and travel advisors is expected to grow by 12,000 jobs by 2023 which means around 2,400 opportunities will be available each year. Job openings may come from newly created jobs but most come from turnover.

The design of this course has been informed by extensive consultation with industry to capture, and address, current and future skills needs.
