Studying electronics and engineering at TAFE NSW offers you a progressive pathway from the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician through to the Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering.

When you graduate from the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician you will be a general electrician or electrical tradesperson. This course meets the national Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) requirements for an unrestricted Electrician's License. Youll learn to install, test and repair electrical systems and be equipped with skills needed to join this growing industry.

From this qualification you might consider either the Certificate IV in Electronics and Communication or the Certificate IV in Electrotechnology - Systems Electrician.

If you are keen to work in industrial electronics and control equipment, the Certificate IV in Electronics and Communication is the course for you. You will learn to select, install, commission, fault find and maintain equipment and systems for the control of plant, machines and processes.

The Certificate IV in Electrotechnology - Systems Electrician will equip you will the knowledge to become an Electrician Special Class. In this course you will work on complex electrical circuitry, solve intricate problems, and plan ambitious electrical installations of integrated systems.

The Diploma of Electrical Engineering, will add to depth to your electrician's knowledge. This is a high level qualification where you will learn about complex electronic circuits controlling fluids and where you'll plan and develop the installation of integrated systems. This course, the Advanced Diploma of Electrical - Engineering allows an electrician to gain additional skills and knowledge which may assist in progression towards paraprofessional electrical engineering roles in the electrotechnology industry.

Along with workplace training and skills development, you will gain skills and knowledge related to electrical engineering work functions.

Electricians with an Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering may perform a liaison role between professional electrical engineers and electricians to ensure the completion of electrical installation and maintenance work.
