Overview

Dreaming of a career where you can work with animals? The Certificate III in Captive Animals is the pathway to zoo keeping, or animal keeping in wildlife parks, aquariums and theme parks. The Cert III in Captive Animals will teach you about the significance of animal conservation, and will ensure you gain practical experience in rescuing animals. During the course you'll learn how to apply basic first aid to animals, how to capture and restraint, and also how to monitor animal health and well-being, including nutrition. In order to put your new found skills to the test, access to a captive animal workplace is essential, through either paid employment or work experience. The Certificate III in Captive Animals leads to exciting career opportunities including Trainee Keeper, Pre-trade Keeper, Assistant Keeper, Animal Care Attendant or Wildlife Animal Carer. Or, you may choose to continue on to the Certificate IV in Captive Animals.

Entry Requirements

Pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:

- direct entry
- after achieving ACM20110 Certificate II in Animal Studies
- vocational training and/or work experience across a range of work settings.

This qualification is suited to Australian Apprenticeship pathways.

It is recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification, the learner have
access to an animal care workplace.
