Graduate Certificate in Leadership

No matter what industry you work in, the Graduate Certificate in Leadership will allow you to develop leadership capabilities so that you can meet the challenges to lead in today's complex public and private sector business environments.

This online course can be completed over one year of part time study. Learning and assessment is designed to allow you to use scenarios from your own workplace, which ensures the course is relevant to the needs of each student.

Location: This is an online course and does not require face to face attendance.

Duration: 1 year part time

Course load:  Students must complete 4 subjects and achieve 40 credit points to complete this course. Each subject is worth 10 credit points.

Course overview:  The Graduate Certificate in Leadership is a postgraduate qualification taught in English. The course is located at Level 8 on the Australian Qualifications Framework.

The course introduces students to leadership theories and models and allows students to develop an understanding of contemporary leadership practices in use in modern workplaces, particularly in the context of changing environments. Students will have opportunities to reflect on their own leadership capability, and to explore how effective leadership impacts on the performance of individuals, work teams and whole of organisation.

This is a post graduate course. Applicants are required to hold either a Bachelor degree or a relevant Graduate Certificate.

Study requirements

STUDY PATTERN

This course is delivered on a part time basis and students enrol in two subjects per semester. Classes are delivered online, with each subject having a web conference session of approximately one hour per week for fourteen weeks. Students are expected to undertake approximately 9 hours per week of private study for each subject to maximise success in the course.

ASSESSMENT

A range of assessment methods are used across subjects in this course to allow students to demonstrate both practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Most subjects require the completion of 3 to 4 assessment tasks. Assessment types include, but are not limited to contribution to online activities, case studies, essays, reports and portfolios.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Students who have completed the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) [TAE80210] or the Graduate Certificate in Management (Learning) [TAE70210] may be considered for advanced standing. All applications for exemption must be made to the course coordinator and must include supporting documentation. Students should attend class until they are formally advised that their application for exemption has been granted.

Tuition fees

Domestic students pay a tuition fee of $1,500 per subject (a total of $6,000 for the full graduate certificate*). This course attracts FEE-HELP, so eligible students can study now and pay later.

There may be additional costs to purchase resources required for individual subjects. The course coordinator can advise you of any additional course fees.

Information for international students

This course is not registered with CRICOS and is therefore not available for enrolment by students holding an international student visa.
