Course structure

TAFE NSW delivers Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma programs, which are stand-alone qualifications and offer an articulated pathway with guaranteed entry and subject credits to study either the Master of Management or the MBA at CSU.

The Graduate Certificate in Management (Professional Practice) will develop your practical knowledge and skills in key areas of business management.

Course content

FIN501 Financial Management Practice. You will develop skills in the identification and analysis of financial problems, in particular the performance of the firm and project evaluation within a commercial environment.

HRM515 Human Resource Management. This subject provides an introduction to human resource management (HRM) and examines how the HRM function can be a source of competitive advantage and contribute to organisational performance.

MGT561 Organisational Management. This subject develops your knowledge and understanding of contemporary management theory and practice.

MKT531 Marketing Practice. You will investigate the foundations of marketing and how contemporary marketing practices can be used as a platform to align organisational goals with market demand.

This course is workplace-focused. It builds on the skills developed in the Graduate Certificate in Management (Professional Practice) and prepares you for your Masters.

Course content

BUS504 Sustainability in Management Practice. We investigate what businesses are doing to adopt a sustainable approach and evaluate how they utilise sustainability as a source of competitive advantage.

MGT556 Business Leadership. You will draw on relevant theories of leadership to critically examine issues affecting the success of organisations and learn how to deal effectively with contemporary leadership challenges.

MGT557 Ethics for Managers. You will examine the ethical limitations of the corporation under capitalism, appropriate conduct in the workplace, moral choices for employees, job discrimination, environmental responsibility, social responsibility and the many dilemmas faced by today’s professionals.

MGT558 Project Management Practice. This subject provides the knowledge and skills needed to manage a project’s life cycle from concept to completion.

Am I eligible to apply?

AGMC courses are available to Australian residents only.

Applicants are required to have one of the following:

  • An undergraduate degree for a recognised Australian institute or a qualification deemed to be equivalent, with at least two years relevant work experience; OR
  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma from TAFE NSW or other recognised Registered Training Organisation, with at least five years relevant work experience in a supervisory / management capacity; OR
  • More than five years’ experience in a senior supervisory / managerial position with significant responsibilities and good writing skills.
