NSW Police Force Cyber Security Administrators, Peter Glover (left) and Shantha Kulasingham
TAFE NSW is upskilling some of Australia’s cyber security administrators with the latest industry technology and knowledge to help keep our nation’s personal information safe.
Parramatta-based NSW Police Force Cyber Security Operator, Peter Glover, along with colleague Shanthaseelan Kulasingham, recently completed a Statement of Attainment in Cyber Security with TAFE Digital to enhance his cyber skills and is now planning further study.
“I valued the opportunity to increase my skills at the age of 59 in my role as a Cyber Security Administrator with the NSW Police Force,” Mr Glover said.
“The level of knowledge, expertise, guidance and professionalism that the TAFE NSW teachers possess is unequalled.
“Being able to study online through TAFE Digital has now opened new doors in my career. I’m looking forward to continuing my studies in a Certificate IV in Cyber Security at TAFE NSW next year.”
According to research by the Institute of Data, cyber-crime cost Australia more than $4.5 billion last year and the industry has a shortage of about 2300 cyber security workers nationally – a figure predicted to grow to 17,600 by 2026.
TAFE NSW Cyber Security teacher, Jocelyn Sinha said the booming cyber security industry was overflowing with job opportunities.
“Cyber-crime presents a grave threat to Australian businesses and jobs are being created as businesses and organisations try to address the threat,” Ms Sinha said.
“TAFE Digital offers courses to meet the needs of organisations such as the NSW Police Force, giving students the ability to study online when it suits them.”
